Chicago Bears place Ego Ferguson on Injured Reserve, sign DL Bruce Gaston

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today the Chicago Bears placed defensive lineman Ego Ferguson on season ending injured reserve. Ferguson has been fighting through a knee injury for a few weeks now, but the Bears decided it's best to just shut him down for the year. At this time his specific injury isn't known, nor is it known whether or not he'll require surgury.

To take Ego's place on the roster, the Bears signed 6'2", 310 pound defensive lineman Bruce Gaston off the practice squad of the Green Bay Packers.

Gaston was originally an undrafted free agent pick up of the Arizona Cardinals in 2014. At his Purdue Pro Day, Gaston ran a 4.95 forty and did 34 reps on the bench. He has played in two games this season for the Packers, collecting 1 tackle. This preseason for Green Bay, Gaston had 3 tackles, a sack and 4 quarterback hits.

He's also a local kid, playing his high school ball at St. Rita.
