The Chicago Bears have waived defensive back Demontre Hurst per the league's transaction report, and elevated CB Bryce Callahan from the practice squad. This is the second time Hurst was waived by the Bears in the last month. He was waived, but brought back to the practice squad in September, and then promoted to the active roster earlier this month when starting safety Antrel Rolle was injured.
Hurst was the primary nickleback last year, but this season he's been practicing primarily at safety.
With the Bears cutting Hurst loose, I would imagine they expect starting safety Rolle to be ready to go against the Minnesota Vikings following their week 7 bye.
Yesterday Hurst played 26 snaps on special teams, so the Bears obviously see some value in him, and I would expect him to return to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Hurst has played in 3 games this season.
Callahan made an appearance in the first two games of the season, thenot placed on the practice squad where he spent the last four games.
What are your thoughts on Hurst being cut and the possibility he returns?
