Chicago Bears release DT Jeremiah Ratliff, sign Ziggy Hood

And here you thought bye weeks were slow and boring.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Here's one out of nowhere:

Ratliff, who began the season on a suspension, reportedly had to be escorted from Halas Hall after an exchange with Bears general manager Ryan Pace. Ratliff notched six tackles this season in the two games he had played.

Also, showing there's more to the story than "moving forward in the best interest":

Evander "Ziggy" Hood was the 32nd overall pick by the Steelers in the 2009 draft. He spent 5 years in Pittsburgh, starting in 46 games. In 2014, he moved to Jacksonville where he played in 16 games and started none.  He has not logged a snap in 2015.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise,as Ratliff was expected to anchor and add some flexibility to the Bears defensive line. As more comes out about this story check back. What thoughts do you have?
