Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

Last week, we said that the Chicago Bears needed to win in order to be a serious contender for the NFL playoffs, and this week we'll say they need a win with a lot of external help if they don't want to be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in the next couple weeks.

Today, they face a Washington Redskins team that has its own challenges, but that are somehow still alive in their own division. The NFC East is bad. Really bad.

This week the Bears look to bounce back after a brutal loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday, and will be focused squarely on shutting the Redskins down in front of a home crowd at Soldier Field.

Can Jay Cuter lead his team to victory to keep their minuscule playoff hopes alive? Stay tuned...

This is your Chicago Bears versus Washington Redskins 1st Quarter Open Thread... Have fun!
