Chicago Bears sign Tight End Zach Miller to a 1 year extension

The Chicago Bears have added some competition at back up tight end by re-signing 6 year veteran Zach MIller, who spent all of 2014 on Chicago's injured reserve.

The Chicago Bears made a roster move today.

Miller was a stand out performer during Marc Trestman's 2014 training camp and in the 1st preseason game he had 6 catches, for 68 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was injured the following week, and placed on season-ending injured reserve soon after. Injuries has been Miller's bugaboo for most of his NFL career, but if healthy he can contribute as a move TE.

General manager Ryan Pace and his scouts, and head coach John Fox and his offensive staff have been going over every inch of tape from the 2014 season and practices. They must have seen enough good out of Miller to give him a 1 year extension.

Miller joins Blake Annen and Jacob Maxwell in the battle to back up Bears' starting TE Martellus Bennett. Offensive coordinator Adam Gase wasn't known for using a fullback in Denver, so I would expect the Bears to have a variety of skill sets at the tight end position.

What are your thoughts on Zach Miller being back in the fold?
