The Chicago Bears have signed running back Jacquizz Rodgers

After a flurry of free agent signings on the defensive side of the ball last week, the Chicago Bears are addressing running back depth with their latest acquisition.

The Chicago Bears have announced the signing of veteran running back Jacquizz Rodgers.

Rodgers, who just turned 25 years old, has played 4 season in the NFL, all with the Atlanta Falcons. He was a 5th round draft pick in the 2010 draft after a stellar career at Oregon State where he was the 2008 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year as a redshirt freshman.

Professionally, he has appeared 63 games with 5 starts, rushing for 1,116 yards on 305 carries (3.7 ypa), with 155 receptions for 1,104 yards receiving.

He also has some experience as a kick returner. While he only ran back one kick in 2014, he had 48 kick returns the previous 2 seasons. Adding a special player like Devin Hester, which the Falcons did last off season, tends to limit one's chances in the return game.

The 5'6", 196 pound Rodgers will battle 2nd year pro Ka'Deem Carey to back up starter Matt Forte in Chicago.
