Lance Briggs will not return to the Chicago Bears

An end of an era for the Chicago Bears...

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

This is the second Chicago Bears news item today that shouldn't be a shock to any fans.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Sources confirm Lance Briggs will not be returning to the <a href="">#Bears</a> next season. <a href="">#NFL</a></p>&mdash; Jen Lada (@JenLada) <a href="">March 5, 2015</a></blockquote>

Lance Briggs made 7 straight Pro Bowls from 2005 to 2011 after being a 3rd round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. During his first 10 seasons with the Bears, he only missed 4 games, but the last two years, injuries kept him out of 15 games.

You factor in his health, his age (35) and the move to a 3-4 defense, and Briggs is left without a place in Chicago.

Lance Briggs is second in franchise history in tackles (1,174) behind long time teammate Brian Urlacher and second in interceptions returned for touchdowns (5) to long time teammate Charles Tillman. He's also 2nd in passes defended (86) behind Tillman. He's third in defensive TDs (6), he's tied for 3rd in forced fumbles (16) and his 173 games played is 11th all time in Chicago Bears history.

Do you think Briggs has played his last game in the NFL or do you think he latches on with a team in 2015?
