The Bears retired Mike Ditka's number against the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, the last number they would claim to ever retire. The list of numbers of retired players is included here, and lists some moderately successful luminaries of Bears football - you know, guys named Payton, Halas, Sayers, Piccolo, Luckman, some guy named Butkus, that sort of thing.
If the Bears retired (m)any more numbers, they may not have enough for current players to choose from, so they're pretty much prevented from retiring more, but for today's question in the June 30 Day Challenge...
Day 7: If the Bears could retire one more number, who's number would it be?
For my money, doesn't it have to be Brian Urlacher's 54? Keeping in mind that I'm not as well versed in Bears' history as many of our other members, watching Urlacher be the cornerstone of a very good defense for a decade was a treat on a team historically known for defense.
However, there could be a case made for an offensive player like Matt Forte.
What's your choice for one more retired number?
