After adding a final participant to the 90 man roster earlier today, the Chicago Bears have made two more moves to the off season roster. They signed undrafted free agent wide receiver Ify Umodu and waived linebacker Jamil Merell.
Umodu was a try out player at Bears rookie mini camp last month, and Merell was a practice squad defensive end from the 2014 season who was signed to a reserve/futures contract in December of last year. With the new coaching regime in place, Merell was being converted to 3-4 outside linebacker.
During Umodu's pro day at Northern Arizona he ran a 4.64 40 yard dash, with a 35' vertical and 18 reps of 225lbs on the bench press. He checked in at 6'2", 218 pounds. During his senior season he had 47 receptions for 692 yards and 5 TDs. During his collegiate career he appeared in 39 games with 136 receptions, 1,883 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Any thoughts on these two recent moves to the roster?
