Chicago Bears' OLB Lamarr Houston is 100% and other day 1 training camp notes

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday we learned that Chicago Bears outside linebackers Lamarr Houston and Willie Young were both cleared to practice after season ending injuries last year, but today Houston elaborated on his clearance.

"We're cleared. I'm 100 percent, just taking it day-to-day & working my back to playing football the proper way."

This is obviously good news for Vic Fangio's defense as they would like to see how he takes to outside linebacker after playing defensive end last year.

During the 2013 season the Denver Broncos lost both Von Miller and Chris Harris to ACL injuries and both played all 16 games last year for head coach John Fox. To give you an idea on the time frame, Houston hurt his knee in October of 2014, while Miller went down in December of 2013 and Harris was injured during a January, 2014 playoff game.

Houston being back 9 months after his injury is not unprecedented.

Young's Achilles injury usually comes with a 6-9 month recovery time, so him being ready for the start of the season is a real possibility as well.

Cornerback Tim Jennings missed practice today for a court date, but he will return tomorrow. If you remember, Jennings was arrested back in January for speeding and he was given a DUI because he refused a breathalyzer test. Today the DUI was dropped and he plead guilty to reckless driving. He'll receive no jail time and have a year probation to go along with 40 hours of community service.

In actual football Tim Jennings news, it would that appear that the initial plan is for him to start opposite Kyle Fuller, but kick inside when the Bears go to nickle. In that sub-package, it'll be 6'2" Alan Ball coming into the game to play outside at corner.

Rookie #7 overall draft pick Kevin White made news by being placed on the PUP list yesterday. Keep in mind the PUP list during training camp is no big deal. Once he passes his physical, he's eligible to come off the list. In a Patriotesque level of ambiguousness, John Fox refused to say specifically what White's shin injury was. Fox did say the rookie is day to day and he's not expected to be out very long.

Here are a few more day 1 nuggets via Twitter...
