Grading the starters: Chicago Bears Offense, Preseason Game 1

The first preseason game of the year generally won't see too much action for the starters, but will make enough of an appearance for snapshot assessments in a moment in time.

For the Chicago Bears, new offensive coordinator Adam Gase got to run his offense for the first time last night in front of an excited crowd at Soldier Field.  Almost the entire starting unit played the first two series of the game, minus running back Matt Forte, who was a healthy scratch, and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who is dealing with a calf injury.

The first series saw a three-and-out, with the following plays:

1st and 10 at CHI 20 (Shotgun) -  PENALTY on CHI- Jordan Mills, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at CHI 20 - No Play.

1st and 15 at CHI 15 (Shotgun) -  Jacquizz Rodgers right guard to CHI 16 for 1 yard

2nd and 14 at CHI 16 (No Huddle, Shotgun) - Jay Cutler pass short left to Eddie Royal for 6 yards

3rd and 8 at CHI 22 (No Huddle, Shotgun) - Jay Cutler pass incomplete short middle to Jacquizz Rodgers

The second series was more productive, ending with a Field Goal.
