Chicago Bears Injury Updates: Kevin White, Alshon Jeffery, and Lamarr Houston

As Training Camp concludes, a quick update on some key injuries.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

KEVIN WHITE, WR

For the last few months, 1st round pick Kevin White has struggled with shins splints, and missed the entirety of Training Camp due to rehabbing.  Unfortunately, the Bears announced last week that the rookie wide receiver's shin splints had devolved into a stress fracture, and would now need surgery to insert a rod into his tibia. His prognosis: White will miss several weeks, and potentially the entire 2015 season.

ALSHON JEFFERY, WR

Another wide receiver that's been struggling with a leg injury is Alshon Jeffery, the team's clear-cut #1 wideout.  Jeffery missed last week's game against the Dolphins due to what the team has called a mild calf strain, and will also sit out this week against the Colts.  Jeffery was wearing a walking boot over the weekend, but the teams says that's just precautionary, and that he will be good to go for the first regular season game of the year.

To add to the WR depth, the Bears signed Jeremy Kelley (6'6", 231) to the roster. Kelley hasn't played a down in the NFL, but Adam Gase and John Fox liked him when they were together in Denver.

To make room for Kelley, the team has waived LB DeDe Lattimore.

LAMARR HOUSTON, OLB

Outside linebacker Lamarr Houston has been recovering from last year's ACL tear, and says he's ready to go whenever John Fox calls his number.  Houston has been practicing, but did not see action against the Dolphins in the first preseason game, and isn't sure that he'll be used this week against the Colts.

Stay tuned for more updates as they are available...
