The Chicago Bears fell to 2-1 in the preseason on Saturday night, losing 21-10 to the Cincinnati Bengals. As the Bears are just trying to figure out how to field a 53-man roster thanks to depleting injuries in multiple positions, the Bengals looked like a team that will be legitimately competing for not only their division, but a potential AFC run.
Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton had a mild neck injury in the 1st quarter on a touchdown-scoring QB keeper, and A.J. McCarron stepped in admirably as a replacement and led the Bengals up and down the field against a tired Chicago Bears defense.
From an offensive perspective, the Bears were overmatched by an aggressive Bengals front-7, and of course having their top four wide receivers out with injury didn't help matters much.
We know that preseason doesn't count, but at this point, the Bears should be more worried about the regular season than anything else. The roster is already thin with everyone healthy, and if things continue to go downhill, 2015 could end up looking very familiar to Bears fans.
What are your thoughts on tonight's game, and your overall outlook?
