The Chicago Bears have already started making roster cuts to get down to the mandated 75 prior to Tuesday's deadline, but they'll have one less spot to worry about with veteran safety Ryan Mundy going on season ending Injured Reserved.
Mundy hasn't been practicing due to a hip injury, an injury the team was calling day to day, but now it's severe enough for the team to end his 2015 season before it starts.
With Mundy gone, that elevates Brock Vereen's chances of making the roster to a lock in my opinion. It also helps defensive back Demontre Hurst's chances. Hurst, who is a corner by trade, played the nickle last year, and he just started getting reps at safety with the new regime.
Veteran Sherrod Martin, who played 16 snaps on D and another 9 on special teams last night, could also benefit from Mundy going on IR.
How do you guys feel about the defensive back depth on the Bears with Mundy on IR and Tim Jennings being cut?
