Vic Fangio disappointed in how the Ray McDonald signing worked out

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

After practice today, Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio met the media and discussed the signing and eventual release of defensive lineman Ray McDonald.

While not regretting speaking up for McDonald, Fangio is disappointed in how how the situation turned out. He did express regret however, that those above him took the majority of heat for him vouching for McDonald. Fangio went as far as saying the fans should blame him for the signing, since it was he who vouched.

I think at this point most fans are over the situation. The Bears took a calculated risk, they laid out a very clear exit strategy if McDonald screwed up, which he obviously did. So they immediately released him.

Remember at the time of the signing there were accusations being made about McDonald, but he wasn't officially charged with anything.

The Bears signed McDonald on March 24th to a one year deal with no guaranteed money and they released him on May 25th when he arrested and charged with domestic violence and child endangerment.

Here are a few other quick hits via social media from Fangio.
