Chicago Bears roster updates: Bears cutting roster down to 53 players

New head coach John Fox has stated this is one of the toughest times of the year, not only finding the best 53 players for his roster, but having to tell players that have worked incredibly hard that they won't be making the team.

Since Ryan Pace was hired as the new general manager, we've seen an entire overhaul of not only the coaching staff, but also entirely new schemes being implemented during the offseason.  Most notably, of course, the transition of the defense from a 4-3 front to a base 3-4.

The Bears are scarily thin at several positions, so they will most certainly be keeping their eyes on the waiver wire as they try to fill out their 53-man roster.  The waiver wire is essentially players who have less than four years of service in the NFL, and teams will go in order of the NFL Draft claiming players that they like. So the Bears will be sitting in the 7th slot for that.

If a player goes unclaimed on waivers, he will be a free agent and have the ability to sign with whom he chooses.
