UPDATE: Hoyer has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Five minutes into the second quarter on Thursday night, Chicago Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer went down with an injury to his left arm after being hit as he released the football. Hoyer struggled even to be able to stand up after the hit, and he needed help getting to the sideline. He was hit by multiple Packers, and struggled even when Kyle Long tried to help him up.
Hoyer has been filling in for injured quarterback Jay Cutler and has done a fantastic job of racking up yards and completions. It will now be up to Matt Barkley to fill in.
We will update as we learn more, but it seems like Hoyer might be done for the night. He was taken into the locker room shortly thereafter, and by reports went straight to X-rays. The hits just keep piling on. Before the injury, Hoyer was 4/11 with 49 yards. The offense has been struggling with the second-string quarterback.
Now it's Matt Barkley's opportunity to step in. The Bears have no other quarterbacks active behind Barkley.
UPDATE: Fox confirmed that Hoyer has broken his arm. Zach Miller is the backup/emergency quarterback.
