top 40 music before Sayers retired

Gale Sayers played his last NFL regular season game on October 17th, 1971 in a 13-0 loss @ San Francisco to the 49ers, the team who inflicted his first knee injury in 1968. Sayers finished the 1971 season with only 13 rushes for only 38 yards, yet did not retire until the 1972 preseason.

The 6-1-1 first place Redskins invaded Soldier Field the following day before losing 16-15 to the Bears, thanks to Bobby Douglass (214 passing yards + 88 rushing yards on only 10 carries) & Cyril Pinder (72 rushing yards + 1 touchdown on only 6 carries). Unfortunately, the 6-3 Bears would lose their final 5 games of the 1971 season to finish 6-8.
