Welcome to your Weekend Den Open Thread.

We have changed up the format of the Weekend Den to give you good people a place to come and leave comments, links, love-notes to the Packers and whatever else you want to say (as long as you stay within the community guidelines).

The seat belt light is off, feel free to get up and wander around the cabin!

A FEW DEN LINKS

Eager: PFF's Point Spread Predictions - Pro Football Focus - The Bears, coming off a bye week following an impressive win on Monday Night Football against the Vikings, laid an egg last week in Tampa. Gone is Alshon Jeffery, suspended for PED use. The remaining cast of Chicago receivers, a respectable group that includes Cameron Meredith and Eddie Royal, will probably not be enough to elevate quarterback Jay Cutler, who continues to disappoint fans in the Windy City with his erratic play.

Zeglinski: After Tampa loss, hollow confidence does all the talking - The Rock River Times - The Bears seen in Tampa Bay were the kind that move towards a top draft pick in April, so it shouldn’t have been surprising.

Fishbain: Chicago Bears Notes: Cutler responds to criticism, Loggains discusses run-pass balance - Pro Football Weekly - Bears' offensive leaders answered questions after rough day in Tampa

Hub Arkush: New York Giants boast impressive 'D' and Eli, but Chicago Bears will have their chances - Pro Football Weekly - Bears should be able to get after Giants' O-line and have opportunities in the return game.

Mullin: Jay Cutler, Dowell Loggains diss reports of doubters, unpreparedness for Tampa Bay loss - CSN Chicago - Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains dismissed reports that Cutler wasn't prepared in Sunday's loss.

Mayer: Players to watch versus Giants - ChicagoBears.com - Larry Mayer and Eli Kaberon of ChicagoBears.com discuss the Bears players they'll be watching on both sides of the ball in Sunday's road game against the New York Giants.

Emma: Rookie Jordan Howard Has Become The Bears’ Rock - CBS Chicago - In a search for solutions, the Bears have something in rookie running back Howard.

Morrissey: The McCaskeys aren't going anywhere, and neither are the Bears - Chicago Sun-Times - A vicious cycle that won't end.

Mullin: Eddie Goldman returns to practice but Bears perilously thin on both lines - CSN Chicago - The Bears have myriad injuries on the offensive and defense line, but getting Eddie Goldman back to practice was a positive sign.

Rumore: Mike Ditka's 30 years as a paid pitchman - Chicago Tribune - It's been said former Bears player and coach Mike Ditka will sell anything. We look back at almost 30 years of product advertisements endorsed by Da Coach.

Campbell: Jay Cutler critical of his performance from four-turnover game - Chicago Tribune - Amid a growing expectation that the next seven games will be Jay Cutler's last with the Bears, he senses urgency to put a positive stamp on them.

Mullin: Bears CB Tracy Porter bait Odell Beckham Jr.? Not his style - CSN Chicago - Bears cornerback Tracy Porter said he has no intentions of getting into a war of words with the colorful Odell Beckham Jr.

Dan Wiederer: Bears at Giants, does ice-cold team have a chance vs. red-hot team? - Chicago Tribune - The Giants are on a four-game winning streak, but in wins over the Ravens, Rams and Eagles, the defense needed key stops late to close things out.

Campbell: How will Bears offense regroup after losing Alshon Jeffery, Kyle Long? - Chicago Tribune - The Bears formula must include short throws, tough running and good coverage from the defense if they're to avoid drowning over the final seven games.

Householder: 3 Key Bears players for the Giants - Windy City Gridiron - Do the Bears have a chance on the road Sunday?

Emma's What To Watch For: Bears-Giants - CBS Chicago - Chicago is headed to New York with a 2-7 record.
