Report: Jay Cutler may be done for the year

NFL: Chicago Bears at New York Giants Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

From the When it rains it pours department: The Chicago Bears are exploring whether or not they need to shut down quarterback Jay Cutler for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Multiple sources have told the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs that Cutler suffered a shoulder injury during yesterday’s game in New York against the Giants. Cutler was sacked 4 times and the Giants were credited with 6 total quarterback hits.

Cutler was slow to get up on a few occasions, but he was able to finish the game. If he is indeed lost for the season, the Bears will surly have to sign someone to the active roster. They currently only have Matt Barkley on the 53 man roster, with rookie Josh Woodrum on the practice squad.

Chicago already has 2 QBs on injured reserve in Brian Hoyer and Conner Shaw.

With the latest suspension and the numerous other Bears’ injures, we’ll be sure to pass along any roster moves as soon as we know anything.
