The Chicago Bears have another starter suspended for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.
It was only one week ago when the Bears announced that wide out Alshon Jeffery was suspended for 4 weeks for violating the policy, and today it’s starting inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman who will be forced to sit out the next four weeks on his own suspension.
With Freeman out, the Bears will probably turn to rookie Nick Kwiatkoski to play on the inside next to Danny Trevathan. John Timu and Christian Jones are two others that may receive some reps at ILB. The Bears also have Jonathan Anderson on the practice squad if they feel then need another player at the position.
Freeman, in the first year of a three year contract, currently leads the Bears with 91 total tackles. He also has 6 tackles for loss, 2 QB hits and 3 passes defended.
Here is Freeman’s statement.
