Yesterday a couple of national NFL reporters claimed that Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was lost for the season with a torn labrum. Today head coach John Fox met the media and he gave us the typical Fox response about Cutler, "right now he's day to day."
Fox did confirm that Cutler suffered a right shoulder injury, but as far as a tear, he said that a "tear is kind of a broad term,” but he did admit that Cutler’s shoulder “is sore." Fox also went on to say that the injury isn’t season ending and that Jay is “a tough son of a gun."
Fox also called Matt Barkley the starter if Cutler couldn’t play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
I’m sure there’s something more than “day to day” going on with Cutler’s injury, because the Bears did sign QB David Fales, and they tried to sign QB Jake Rudock off the Lions’ practice squad earlier today. But for some reason Fox is sticking with his mysterious way of dealing with his player’s injuries.
So for the record, Cutler did not practice today and he was joined on the sidelines by RB Jeremy Langford, WR Eddie Royal, LG Josh Sitton, OLB Leonard Floyd, LB Christian Jones, CB Deiondre' Hall and DB Cre'Von LeBlanc.
