Tonight, the Seattle Seahawks face off against the Los Angeles Rams in a match more defined by the distractions around it than the game itself.
First, there’s the game. The Seahawks (8-4-1) can clinch the division championship with a win. This would make their fifth consecutive trip to the playoffs. On the other hand, the Rams (4-9) are only one game ahead of the Bears and...wow...the Bears are one game behind the Rams...sorry, I need a minute.
Anyway, the Rams can try to get in Seattle’s way, but at this point they are mostly just playing for pride.
Off the field, a prominent Seattle player has recently expressed his feelings about Thursday Night Football, and they are not kind.
Additionally, in a move so beautiful and poetic it almost seems purposeful, the Rams have made the decision to go into this game with a new head coach. That decision leaves Jeff Fisher unable to win the crown of the losing-est head coach in professional football. Instead, John Fassel will head the Rams tonight.
