In the 2nd quarter of Sunday’s game versus the Green Bay Packers, running back Ka’Deem Carey had a collision with linebacker Joe Thomas that caused the “C” on Carey’s helmet to come flying off.
The C came off! I've never seen that before. #Bears #GBvsCHI pic.twitter.com/1LqOzzC27S

Wow.
This is super scary, and will undoubtedly lead to an investigation by the team, and possibly the league, to figure out just how exactly this happened.
Hopefully this was just a cosmetic fluke, and not indicative of the quality of the helmet’s manufacturing.
Carey has a history of concussions with Chicago, missing time last in November of 2015 and August of 2016 with head injuries.
Thomas is known for his aggressive play and big hits, so hopefully Carey is okay after this collision.
Temperatures in Chicago are in the single digits in today’s football game, so player safety is as important as ever.
We’ll keep you posted on this development as we learn more.
Stay tuned...
