NFL: Preseason-Kansas City Chiefs at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

This should be a good one. The Oakland Raiders are in the lead of the AFC West with a 10-2 record. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs have the third-best record in the AFC (behind only the Raiders and the Patriots) at 9-3. Previously, the Chiefs beat the Raiders, and a victory over Oakland tonight would have major implications for the playoff race. They would have swept their division rivals and put themselves in a the lead of their division.

On the other hand, Kansas City needed a dramatic turn of events to manage a victory over the NFC South’s leader Atlanta, and Oakland currently owns the best record in the AFC. A victory over Kansas City would put them in the driver’s seat for the division.

In Bears-related news, Dave Toub’s special teams coaching for Kansas City should be on display, likely leading many fans of the Beloved to feel yet another twinge of loss and envy.

Perhaps more importantly, though, the 2014 Oakland Raiders went 3-13. Now, they are in front of their conference. They serve as proof that teams can turn around quickly in the NFL under the right circumstances.Enjoy the game, and Open Thread responsibly.
