Report: Chicago Bears sign RT Bobby Massie, Kyle Long back to RG?

The Chicago Bears continue to fill in needs with free agency by adding offensive lineman Bobby Massie, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals. This addition brings up more questions, because Massie plays right tackle, the same position that Kyle Long played last year.

Through four years Massie has appeared in 54 games, with 46 starts all coming at right tackle, so I wouldn't think Massie is going to change positions.

Meaning Kyle Long could be on the move. After two Pro Bowl years at right guard, Long was kicked out to RT a week before the 2015 season, and even though he struggled at times, at times he looked dominant. He ended up making a 3rd consecutive Pro Bowl, but he as the athleticism to play anywhere on the line.

With Massie in the fold, Long is either moving back to right guard or kicking over to left tackle. We'll soon see how confident the Bears are in current LT Charles Leno.

Long welcomed Massie to the Bears via Twitter, then gave an indication on a potential position change with some Hallelujah emojis.

Jason Cole of Bleacher Report as the first to report the news on Massie, and he's also reporting what the Bears plan to do on their offensive line.

Our sister site Revenge Of The Birds recently had this to say about Massie.

Massie, while a starter for the Cardinals, has been anywhere from inconsistent to above average as a right tackle.

Massie still has upside, he is young at 26 years old and has some game tape that is great. He looks the part physically and was part of an offensive line that had one of the most prolific offenses in the league in 2015.
