It is being reported by multiple NFL insiders that the Chicago Bears have signed free agent veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer to a 1 year/$2 million deal.

The Bears appear to have waited to see how the NFL Draft played out before offering the 7 year veteran a contract. But now that Chicago general manager Ryan Pace didn't have a quarterback fall on his board, he quickly pounced to give the Bears a back up QB with starting experience.

Hoyer has a career 82.2 passer rating in 43 games, including 26 starts. Last year he started 9 games for the Houston Texans throwing 19 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions. He averaged 236.9 passing yards in the 11 games he played in, completing over 60% of his passes, with a 91.4 passer rating.

Unless the Bears add another veteran or an undrtafted free agent, they'll go to camp with Jay Cutler, David Fales, Matt Blanchard and Hoyer at the quarterback position.
