The Bear's Den Sunday Special: May 1, 2016

Hey hey it's May Day. Well, the 2016 draft is in the books and the UDFA race is winding down. How did Chicago do? Let's find out what all the pundits think of Ryan Pace & Co's draft & priority UDFA catch.

Welcome to this special "once per year" Sunday edition of the Bear's Den.

A couple of notes: First, UDFA's & "Know Thy Enemy" will be covered more in tomorrow (Monday's) Den, in the interest of not making this Den unreadably big. Secondly, I have organized the den by player picked, and by writer/source, to make it easier for you to read the sources you like best and skip those you don't. It's like an "all you can eat buffet" of draft info, you don't actually have to eat some of EVERYTHING to get all the info you need.



Noble: Chicago Bears pick linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski from West Virginia - Windy City Gridiron - The Chicago Bears have added another athlete for Vic Fangio's defense.

Mayer: Bears trade up to pick Kwiatkoski - - The Bears continued to wheel and deal Thursday, trading up four spots in the fourth round of the draft to select West Virginia inside linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski with the 113th pick.

Dickerson: Nick Kwiatkoski joins Chicago Bears' mix at linebacker - ESPN - The Bears added to their linebacker corps with the versatile Nick Kwiatkoski, who played three different linebacker spots at West Virginia.

Mullen: Bears increase LB competition with another trade, draft WVU ILB Nick Kwiatkoski - CSN Chicago - Ryan Pace started Day 3 exactly as he did Days 1 and 2, trading up in the fourth round to select West Virginia ILB Nick Kwiatkoski.


Noble: Chicago Bears draft Miami safety Deon Bush in 4th round - Windy City Gridiron - The Chicago Bears have addressed their secondary with the second of three 4rd round picks.

Mayer: Bears select safety Bush in Round 4 - - The Bears continued to bolster their defense in the fourth round of the draft by choosing Miami safety Deon Bush with the 124th overall selection.

Dickerson: Chicago adds competition at safety with Deon Bush - ESPN - The Bears added depth to the safety position by drafting Miami safety Deon Bush in the fourth round.

Fishbain: Chicago Bears address secondary by drafting Miami's Deon Bush - Pro Football Weekly - Bush has good size for the defensive backfield.

Mullen: Bears draft Miami safety Deon Bush, workout partner of Antrel Rolle - CSN Chicago - The Bears used their second fourth-round pick to bring in Deon Bush, a safety who started 32 games over four seasons at Miami.


Schweickert : Chicago Bears draft Northern Iowa DB Deiondre' Hall in 4th Round - Windy City Gridiron - The Bears spent their first pick of the fourth round on a linebacker after trading up, and their next two picks have both gone to furthering the defensive backfield. They used the 127th overall pick on Northern Iowa defensive back Deiondre' Hall.

Mayer: Bears pick cornerback Hall in Round 4 - - Three picks after drafting Miami safety Deon Bush, the Bears addressed their secondary again by choosing Northern Iowa cornerback Deiondre’ Hall at No. 127 in the fourth round.

Dickerson: Chicago Bears add playmaker in DB Deiondre' Hall - ESPN - The Bears need defensive backs who take the ball away and are hoping fourth-round pick Deiondre' Hall can help fit the bill.

Mullen: Bears hope they found another Peanut Tillman with CB Deiondre’ Hall - CSN Chicago - In the fourth round of the 2016 draft, the Bears are hoping they have found another Charles Tillman in Northern Iowa cornerback Deiondre’ Hall.


Schweickert: Chicago Bears draft RB Jordan Howard in 5th Round - Windy City Gridiron - The Bears switch to offense in the fifth, picking up a running back.

Mayer: Bears select RB Howard in Round 5 - - After spending four straight picks on defense, the Bears addressed the other side of the ball by selecting Indiana running back Jordan Howard with the 150th choice in the fifth round.

Dickerson: Chicago adds depth at running back with Jordan Howard - ESPN - The Bears hope Indiana running back Jordan Howard is another middle-rounds steal in their running back-by-committee approach.

Fishbain: Chicago Bears get a running back in fifth round with Jordan Howard - Pro Football Weekly - Howard averaged 6.2 yards per carry last year at Indiana.

Mullen: Bears add power on RB depth chart with Indiana’s Jordan Howard in Round 5 - CSN Chicago - The Bears' backfield mix grew a player with the selection of Indiana RB Jordan Howard with the 150th pick in the draft.


Schweickert: Chicago Bears draft Safety DeAndre Houston-Carson in 6th Round - Windy City Gridiron - The Bears went back to defense, picking up an FCS safety prospect.

Mayer: Bears pick Houston-Carson in Round 6 - - The Bears addressed their secondary for the third time in four picks when they selected William & Mary safety DeAndre Houston-Carson with the 185th pick in the sixth round.

Dickerson: Chicago Bears' DeAndre Houston-Carson can block kicks - ESPN - The Bears invested another pick in the secondary, drafting safety DeAndre Houston-Carson, who showed a knack for blocking kicks in college.

Fishbain: Safety DeAndre Houston-Carson goes to Chicago Bears in sixth round | Pro Football Weekly - William and Mary DB was very productive in college

Mullen: Special teams, versatility key to selecting DeAndre Houston-Carson - CSN Chicago - The Bears added more depth in both the secondary and the special teams unit in selecting William & Mary DB DeAndre Houston-Carson.


Schweickert: Chicago Bears draft WR Daniel Braverman in 7th Round - Windy City Gridiron - The Bears went for a wide receiver with their final pick of the draft.

Mayer: Bears select Braverman in Round 7 - - With their final pick in the draft, the Bears selected Western Michigan receiver Daniel Braverman in the seventh round at No. 230 overall.

Dickerson: Chicago Bears' Dan Braverman likened to Patriots WRs - ESPN - Receiver isn't a big need for the Chicago Bears, but Daniel Braverman's big-time college production made him worth a late draft pick.
