About a half an hour after the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs reported that the Chicago Bears were going to sign tight end Tony Moeaki, Biggs reported that the Bears were also inking defensive lineman Marquis Jackson.
Jackson, like Moeaki, was in this week on a try out basis and the 6’4", 255 pounder must have done enough to impress the coaching staff. Marquis is the twin brother of Malik Jackson who just signed a gigantic free agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The newest Bear played his college ball at Portland State after transferring from Texas Southern. He was an undrafted free agent of the Minnesota Vikings in 2013, but he didn’t make their 53 man roster.
He spent the last two years with the Portland Thunder of the Arena Football League. During his 2015 season he had 7.5 sacks and 13 pass deflections.
UPDATED: The Chicago Bears have made the signing of Jackson and Moeaki official, and they've also announced that they have released undrafted free agents Kenton Adeyemi (DL) and Don Cherry (LB).
With these moves, the Bears' roster is at 89, one below the offseason limit.
