With the first official cut down day coming up on Tuesday, with teams required to go from 90 to 75 players, the Chicago Bear have sliced 10 players just moments ago.
Here are the nine players the Bears waived:
Keith Browner, DL, California
Kieran Duncan, WR, Colorado State Pueblo
Derek Keaton, WR, Georgia Southern
John Kling, OL, Buffalo
Senorise Perry, RB, Louisville
Darrin Peterson, WR, Liberty
Joel Ross, DB, Appalachian State
Gannon Sinclair, TE, Missouri State
Martin Wallace, OL, Temple
The Bears terminated the contract of one vested veteran;
Darrell Young, FB, Villanova
The Bears have five players to go before 3pm Central on Tuesday, with the final preseason game taking place on Thursday against the Cleveland Browns.
The final 53 man roster is due on September 3rd at 3pm Central.
With the Bears cutting Young, that leaves only Paul Laskie at the fullback position on the roster.
With Perry being waived, I would imagine the remaining running backs on the roster are all safe.
Defensive lineman Keith Browner had a solid game in the 2nd preseason contest, but with him out, Ego Ferguson, Will Sutton and Cornelius Washington could be fighting for one or two spots this week.
Any thoughts on this first wave of cuts?
