Chicago Bears roster moves: sign RB Joique Bell and OL Colin Kelly, release OL Jason Weaver

The Chicago Bears continue to make roster moves, this time signing a RB and o-lineman.

The Chicago Bears have been significantly hampered by the injury bug this season, most recently losing running back Jeremy Langford to an ankle injury Sunday night versus the Dallas Cowboys.  They have rookie Jordan Howard stepping up, but with Ka'Deem Carey also injured (hamstring), but with the running back corps now depleted, they needed to bring someone in for depth.

That depth was announced on Tuesday, with the signing of former Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell.

Bell had previously spent five years with Detroit, only to be released last February. He's been out of work since then, but last week the Lions reportedly had him back in for a workout due to the injury to Ameer Abdullah, but no contract was signed.

OTHER ROSTER MOVES

The Chicago Bears also released offensive lineman Jason Weaver from the Practice Team, and signed Colin Kelly in his place.  From the press release:

"The Chicago Bears have signed OL Colin Kelly to the practice squad and terminated the practice squad contract of OL Jason Weaver.

Kelly is in his second professional season, spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs (2013-14) and San Francisco 49ers (2016). He has not appeared in a regular season game. The Oregon State alum also spent time in the CFL with the Ottawa Redblacks (2014-15), starting all 26 games he appeared in. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs (2013). He missed the entire 2013 season after being placed on IR in August due to a knee injury.

Weaver spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2013), Cincinnati Bengals (2013), Miami Dolphins (2013-14), New Orleans Saints (2014) and Chicago Bears (2014-16) without appearing in a game. He spent the entire 2015 on IR."
