Some expected names and some unexpected names make up the first part of the Bears scout squad.

The Bears have started filling out the practice squad:

In addition to the list above, they have also signed quarterback Matt Barkley. Barkley takes the place of David Fales, who is reuniting with his former head coach Marc Trestman in Baltimore.

In addition to these players, you'd expect that if they clear waivers the Bears would also like to add some of their recently waived players like Cornelius Edison.

The practice squad, as always, is likely to see a significant turnover during the season, as they churn the bottom of the roster to maximize special teams, address injuries, or develop new talent.

Thankfully fan favorite Daniel Braverman, who many fans would have liked to see crack the 53, was able to succesfully clear the waiver wire with none of the other 31 teams putting in a claim.

John Timu, who has shown some flashes, also makes it through allow the Bears to let the linebacker develop a bit more and hopefully be ready to step up if needed.

The Bears should finalize this squad within the next 24-36 hours, and be ready to hit the gameplan for week 1 vs. the Texans, just one short week from today.
