Chicago Bears Trade for Dontrelle Inman

The Bears have added a wide receiver to the roster at the cost of a marginal draft pick.

Ryan Pace seems to agree with fans that the Bears are looking thin at wide receiver. Thus, he has traded a 7th-round pick to the Chargers in exchange for Dontrelle Inman.

Inman was an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2011. Since that time, he has amassed 107 receptions on 181 targets for 1463 yards and 7 touchdowns. Inman actually spent some time in the CFL, but he has been a steady presence in the NFL since 2014. In fact, 2016 saw Inman’s manage 810 yards over 58 receptions with 4 touchdowns. That would have made him the second-most productive receiver on the Bears last year by most measures.

He has not seen a lot of action this season, and he has been plagued with a hamstring injury. However, he’s a good-sized target (6’3”) who has been able to stay productive in the NFL for the last two years. In the short term, it is unclear how readily he will be available to Chicago. However, Chicago’s receiving corps can use any help it can get.

Obviously, the bye week will give the Bears a chance to get him up to speed, as well.
