The defense of the Chicago Bears has started to play opportunistic football. The takeaways have been the only thing missing from Vic Fangio’s defense since he started running that side of the ball in 2015, but with that seemingly turned around, the sky’s the limit for what these guys can do in the second half of the 2017 season.
The young players are starting to come into their own, the veterans are playing well, and there’s a rookie breaking records on the Bears D.
Football Outsiders has Chicago’s defense up to 13th in DVOA from 16th last week.
The Aikman Efficiency Rankings shows the Bears up two, to 12th.
In my latest T Formation Conversation, I discuss defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and the chances he sticks around in 2018, and I also go over some of the young defensive talent on this team, and why they’ve started to come on the last few weeks.
