Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints: NFL Week 8 Pre-Party Livestream and Open Thread

The Bears bring their two game winning streak to New Orleans. Can they make it three?

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning. You know, it’s not often that we get a lot of excitement following the team’s third win of the season. Yet after the day the Bears’ defense had last week in shutting down Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers when they had to, it’s hard to not be at least a little heartened by a 3-4 team.

After plugging in Mitchell Trubisky three weeks ago on Monday Night Football, the Bears won their last two games with a little Lovie-ball, taking the ball away and doing literally just enough on offense to get by (which, admittedly, wasn’t a whole lot).

That formula is going to be a little more difficult against the Drew Brees-led Saints. After starting their year 0-2, they’ve taken four straight, including dropping 52 on the Lions two weeks ago and dispatching the Aaron Rodgers-less Packers. And I’m pretty sure most would say the Saints’ passing attack is a step up from the Panthers and Ravens’ units from the last couple weeks.

But who knows, because the defense for the Navy and Orange has been really good when they’ve had to be lately and maybe that carries into this match. .500 at the break? Who would’ve thought with this squad?

.500 at the break sounds pretty good though. Let’s get it.

A quick refresher of the gameday procedures, of course, because since the game starts at noon central, the first quarter thread will pop at noon with each subsequent thread popping up as the game goes on. After the game, Patti will have immediate postgame reaction, and tomorrow we’ll start up with our analysis and breakdowns of the game, as well as some looks on what’s to come in the bye week and beyond.

So with all the propers out of the way... Bear Down.

Hey, so remember those WCG Sunday Livestreams we did for like four weeks plus four years, and then they pretty much went away for four weeks due to the Bears’ schedule as well as my personal schedule getting all out of whack? They’re baaaaaaaaaaaaack...

Yep, Sam and I are getting the band back together and going live for the first time in a month to break down the Bears’ post-Glennon transition as well as this two game winning streak.
