Chicago Bears make roster move

It is being widely reported that the Chicago Bears have elevated outside linebacker Isaiah Irving from the practice squad. A logical corresponding move would be to place place outside linebacker Willie Young on injured reserve at some point. It was reported last week that Young had surgery on his injured triceps, so promoting Irving was expected.

The Bears list the rookie undrafted free agent from San Jose State, at 6’2”, 254 pounds, and he had three sacks in the preseason for the Bears. Irving had spent the entire 2017 season on the Bears practice squad.

The Bears are thin at linebacker tonight with Danny Trevathan sitting out his one game suspension, Nick Kwiatkoski doubtful as he tries to come back form an injured pectoral muscle, and Jerrell Freeman on injured reserve.

We won’t find out until later if Irving is active, but at least the Bears have another option behind OLBs Pernell McPhee, Leonard Floyd and San Acho.
