Eventually the Chicago Bears will get this right.
Eventually they’ll promote Tanner Gentry to the active roster and let him do what he does best.
Go deep.
The deep ball was his thing in college. The deep ball was his thing down at Bears’ training camp in Bourbonnais when he had an obvious connection with franchise savior Mitchell Trubisky. And the deep ball was his thing in preseason when he did this.
For now us Bears’ fans will have to take solace in the fact that he is back at Halas Hall once again a member of our practice squad.
Earlier today our Beloved announced that Gentry and a lineman was signed, and in a subsequent move, some wide out was released from the practice squad.
It’s just a matter of time before we get to see the modern day Marcus Robinson running down the sideline, locating the ball in the air, leaping with his sensational body control, and high-pointing it with his vice-like hands for a professional Trubisky TD.
Once it finally happens, the Angels in Heaven above will glow with a Navy and Orange aura and sing the harmonious Bear Down Chicago Bears.
It shall be a beautiful thing.
EDIT: Gentry was added to the practice squad along with offensive lineman Travis Averill, who was originally an undtrafted free agent of the Atlanta Falcons. He was a late cut by them and he also spent a little time on the Cleveland Browns practice squad. Averill (6’3”, 295) is a center/guard from Boise State.
The Bears released wide receiver Darreus Rogers from the practice squad.
