Each week we’re setting aside this time slot to provide a forum for fantasy football conversation. Bring your questions about who to start / sit in the comment section. We’ll also grade trades and listen to how great your team is - seriously, no one else is going to do that. Let’s help each other win our leagues to ensure bragging rights around the neighborhood.
The real football trade deadline brought some familiar faces to new places. Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be very interesting...in 2018. Maybe he takes over for CJ Beathard soon, but San Francisco is still a struggling franchise with a lack of weapons. Garoppolo is going to need to come in and learn a new offense and develop some kind of rapport with his receivers. Any reps he takes during the week takes away from Beathard having a chance at winning that week. I think we all expect Jimmy to come in a start soon, but the 49ers would be smart to let Beathard get the reps and see if they can grow him into a solid backup.
Jay Ajayi moves into a crowded backfield for Philadelphia. However, that backfield hasn’t had anyone emerge as a dominant back and this is a fantastic offense. My thinking here is that he’s got a good chance to get a real workload on a high scoring offense. If his knee holds up, I think Ajayi can be a factor down the stretch, closing out some NFC East showdowns.
The last move of interest is also the most interesting for 2017. The perception is that Kelvin Benjamin is getting a downgrade in moving to Buffalo, but I’m not so sure. Cam Newton just never got on the same page as Benjamin this year and Tyrod Taylor is a good signal caller. Yes, this is a Buffalo team that likes to run the ball, but Benjamin becomes the best red zone threat in a Bills uniform where in Carolina he was one of several options. Maybe game flow takes his down his targets, but I would expect scoring opportunities to increase.
One week closer to the end of the season. Anyone pull off any interesting trades? Any trade targets you all want to share?
