The season ending injured reserve list for the Chicago Bears just keeps growing. The latest is outside linebacker Pernell McPhee, who left the game on Saturday in Detroit with a right shoulder injury. Last offseason McPhee had surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder, and the previous offseason it was a surgery on his left knee that stalled the start to his year.
McPhee is the fifteenth Bear on IR, but safety Quintin Demps could be activated this week as his 21-day practice window is about to close.
To take McPhee’s roster spot the Bears promoted inside linebacker Jonathan Anderson from their practice squad. Anderson has been back and forth from the practice squad to the active roster throughout his three year career, and he’ll be used mostly as a special teamer.
To take Anderson’s spot on the practice squad, the Bears signed wide receiver Mekale McKay (6’5”, 210).
