Welcome to Week 17, the end of the regular season. Tomorrow, friends, is the day of coaching firings, the hyperfocus on next year and the future and what’s to come. Oh, also something called New Year’s Day.
Today, though, today is for football.
The Bears, nowhere in proximity to the playoffs without a ticket, visit the Minnesota Vikings, the very-likely 2-seed in the NFC, with little on the line except the Vikings’ ability to put the final piece of Scotch tape over whatever gaps remain in picking up that 2-seed.
Whether the Bears finish at 5-11 or 6-10 isn’t the most consequential thing, as the Bears already sealed their fourth consecutive below-.500 year and third under John Fox well before this point, which has all but solidified Fox’s dismissal tomorrow, if varied reports are to be believed.
But the continued growth of Mitchell Trubisky is always a storyline to follow, as he draws his second rematch of the season against the same Vikings team he made his debut against on Monday Night Football eleven games ago.
One more time, Bears fans. Let’s do this.
------------------------------------------------------------—--
As usual, the game thread goes live when the game goes live, so today, that’s a noon central kickoff. Subsequent quarter threads pop as the game goes on. After the game, we’ll have our immediate recap of the game, with all of our detailed breakdowns coming tomorrow morning along with any and all Black Monday firings and happenings.
So for one last time in the 2017 season... Bear down.

Before this segment, I need to say thank you to everyone who’s watched, participated, interacted, or anything at all with the WCG Sunday Livestream. I know this year has been a little wonky schedule-wise for both your devoted co-hosts, but we’ve tried to do our best to make it work, and of course, thank you for your continued encouragement and just your general awesomeness.
Especially, thank you to Sam, who’s been with me on this silly project since day one.
Sam and I are getting together one last time to break down the last couple weeks of Bears football and our thoughts on Ryan Pace, John Fox and Mitchell Trubisky. We have a lot to talk about and only about a couple hours to do it.
