The last time* a Prince was associated with the Chicago Bears, it was THE Prince, and he was performing at the halftime show of Super Bowl XLI. It was arguably the greatest halftime show ever, but many Bears’ fans have memories of that particular Super Bowl repressed.
The Bears are hoping this Prince, newly signed cornerback Prince Amukamara, will also be associated with them being in the Super Bowl.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, is reporting that the Bears have signed the former 1st round pick of the New York Giants, Prince Amukamara (6’, 201). The 27 year old played with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, after playing the previous five years in New York.
Last year he had 46 tackles and 6 passes defended, although zero interceptions. During his career, he has appeared in 69 games, starting 57, while intercepting 7, with 51 passes defended.
He’s not one of the high profile corners that was on the market, but he’s still an upgrade over what the Bears had last year.
EDIT: It’s a 1 year $7 million, fully guaranteed deal.
Prince Amukamara told me just now it's a 1-year deal. #Bears #Chicago
