Dear Jay:
First and foremost, I want to thank you for your efforts and hard work over your years as a member of the Chicago Bears.
I’m sure that both you and the Chicago Bears fanbase wish things had gone differently, and that we had a Super Bowl or two to celebrate along the way.
I have always admired your guts, your toughness, how you took the high road when former (and sometimes current) teammates and coaches threw you under the bus.
Thank you for all of the great moments, most especially for a certain never-to-be-forgotten Thanksgiving night in Green Bay a couple of years ago. Thanks for standing in the pocket behind Gate 68 and The Nation without flinching, and thanks for tying The Nation’s shoes for him when he was unable.
Thank you also for taking people like Kyle Long and other rookies and young teammates under your wing.
We all know that your time in Chicago was controversial amongst the fan base, but I want to thank you for keeping it classy the whole time.
I think most of us wish you every success in the future (except, of course, when you are playing against the Bears) and I hope your recovery from injury goes well.
Thanks for everything and Best Wishes
Ken.
