2017 NFL Draft: Top 5 Quarterbacks

NCAA Football: Music City Bowl-Tennessee vs Nebraska Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The talk of the 2017 NFL Draft is the quarterbacks. First it was this class is bad, then it was this class is OK, then it was none are worthy of a first round pick, then it was four QBs may go in the first round... I think it’s safe to say when talking about soon to be rookies in general, opinions vary.

In my latest T Formation Conversation podcast (Subscribe now on iTunes), I had the chance to speak with Dave Scarbro, who is a long time friend of mine who just so happens to have coached youth and high school football for over 20 years. He worked on a few high school coaching staffs headed up by former Chicago Bears’ wide receiver Glen Kozlowski. He’s also one of my go to guys when I want to talk Xs and Os and anything football scheme related, and his specialty is quarterbacks.

We discussed the soon to be rookie draft class and how they might fit in with the Bears. He gave me his top 5 quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft class, and I also got his thoughts on Bears’ QB, Mike Glennon.

Some of the quarterbacks we discussed are North Carolina’s Mitchell Trubisky, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, Pittsburgh’s Nathan Peterman, Tennessee’s Joshua Dobbs. Miami’s Brad Kaaya, Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes II, and Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer.
