Just when you thought you wouldn’t have to see another mock draft until the 2017 NFL Draft was over, here’s my mock for the 2nd through 7th rounds.
Since Chicago Bears’ GM, Ryan Pace, traded away his 3rd and 4th rounders this year, I’m expecting him to trade back from his 2nd round pick to acquire more selections. So, that’s exactly what I did in this Fanspeak mock draft.
I sent Chicago’s 2nd rounder (36th overall) to the Miami Dolphins for their 2nd rounder (54th overall), their 3rd (97th overall) and their 7th (223rd overall).
I used the Arif Hasan - Zone Coverage Consensus Big Board for my mock draft and you can see how it fell by clicking this link.
Second Round - Pick 54: Kevin King, CB, Washington
I’m a sucker for long, athletic corners, and King is 6’3”, with his combine numbers showing an explosive athlete. Some scouts didn’t see his timed speed always show up on film, so he’ll need some technique work to improve that. He has some experience playing safety, but he’s not overly physical.
Third Round - Pick 97: Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland
Shaheen had a great combine at 6’6”, 278 pounds, and he has all the physical traits to develop into a starter. Like many collegiate tight ends, his blocking is poor, but he has shown a willingness to stick his nose in there.
Fourth Round - Pick 117: John Johnson, S, Boston College
He has both safety and corner experience at B.C., with a lot of special teams time as well.
Fifth Round - Pick 147: Ryan Switzer, WR, North Carolina
Every time you put on tape of Mitchell Trubisky, this 5’8” wide out was making plays.
Seventh Round - Pick 221: Connor Harris, ILB, Lindenwood
This small school prospect is a physical, downhill, run plugging Mike linebacker.
Seventh Round - Pick 223: Treyvon Hester, DL, Toledo
He has enough versatility so he could back up along Chicago’s 30 front.
What are you guys hoping to see from the Bears this weekend?
