Chicago Bears Training Camp: Live practice updates (open thread)

NFL: Chicago Bears-Training Camp Erich Schlegel-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears put on the pads yesterday for the first time, and they gave the millions (and millions) of fans in attendance a heck of a show. As expected the defense probably won the day, but that’s not to say there weren’t some standout performances form the offensive side of the ball, especially the rookies.

Rookie Adam Shaheen and Tarik Cohen both flashed on Saturday. The big tight end Shaheen, continues to show the hands and body control to make plays, and running back Cohen, to borrow an expression used by Jim Ross, is quicker than a hiccup. Rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky had an up and down day, but his talent is evident to anyone that was down at camp. He definitely has an NFL arm, and his athleticism in the pocket was on display as well.

A quick thought about the three botched snaps Trubisky had today, don’t worry about it. Keep in mind, with the advent of the spread-style offense, many youth, high school and college programs always keep their quarterbacks in the shotgun. Trubisky ran the spread at North Carolina, and he ran the spread as a member of the Mentor High School Fighting Cardinals. Trubisky will eventually get the snaps right.

Now on a more positive note, check out a few clips of the rookie from Twitter and @GridAssassin.

Here are a couple in-case-you-missed-its from yesterday.

Now on to the live Twitter updates form our very own Robert Zeglinski and Andrew Link. You can check out Andrew’s right below, and scroll down a bit to catch all of Robert’s Tweets. Keep in mind that Robert will be in attendance when the Bears’ players and coaches begin to meet the media, so keep it locked on his profile after practice ends as well.

One more thing, this is an open thread, so it is rated WCG-MA. If the occasional bad word offends you, then stay up here above the comment section.

Have fun!
