It’s about time to tailgate!
Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to your Weekend Den Open Thread.

We have a relaxed atmosphere here in the Weekend Den and we make it an Open Thread to give you good people a place to come and leave comments, links, mock the Packers because… well… PACKERS, and whatever else you want to say (as long as you stay within the community guidelines). The seat belt light is off, feel free to get up and wander around the cabin! As always, open thread responsibly!!!!

BEARRRSSSS

Joyce: The Competition Behind Center (And the One Lesson to Remember) - Da Bears Brothers - The better man always wins and for right now that may be Glennon, but never disregard the idea of competition.

Boden: Why Mitch Trubisky could be sidelined at start of training camp - CSN Chicago - Although first-round pick Mitch Trubisky wants to get his reps at training camp, it won't be possible without a signed contract.

Countdown to Camp - Lester Wiltfong, Jr. Joins The Bros To Take a Long Look at the Bears' Offensive Line - Da Bears Brothers - In this episode, we were joined by Lester Wiltfong Jr of Windy City Gridiron and discussed all you need to know about the offensive line heading into camp.

Perez: Kyle Long is a fan of the Bears’ defense in 2017 - Bears Wire - The Chicago Bears defense has a big fan in Kyle Long heading into the 2017 season

Tanier: Gault, Payton ranked among the Best Athletes in NFL History - Bleacher Report - We are here to celebrate athleticism in all of its forms: speed, strength, agility, precision, leaping, throwing, kicking, lifting, grappling, punching, dribbling and driving. Versatility is the name of the game for this NFL countdown...

Schein: Ranking divisions by quarterback - NFC North in top half - NFL.com - Rodgers is the best quarterback in the NFL today. And Stafford was a true MVP candidate for most of last season. In my opinion, Stafford enjoyed his finest pro campaign by rocking steady and displaying quite the clutch gene in his first year without Calvin Johnson. While injuries are always a question with Bradford, he deserves so much credit for being a really good player (SEE: NFL-leading 71.6 percent completion rate) and quick study last year after Minnesota picked him up on Labor Day weekend from Philly. I like Mike Glennon more than most. And while I loathed the Trubisky trade-up, the rookie has talent.

POLISH SAUSAGE

Goodbread: Two players eligible for 2017 NFL Supplemental Draft - NFL.com - Georgia Military College DL Tavares Bingham and Western New Mexico RB Marques Rodgers will be eligible for selection in next week's NFL Supplemental Draft.

Brooks: Star or system guy? Judging Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott, more - NFL.com - Dak Prescott earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors last season, while Ezekiel Elliott led the NFL in rushing -- but Bucky Brooks says only one of these Cowboys is a true star.

KNOW THY ENEMY

Alper: Max McCaffrey hopes to get a chance with Packers this season - ProFootballTalk - There's been a lot of buzz about Panthers first-round pick Christian McCaffrey this offseason and he's sure to play a sizable role in the Carolina offense. His brother hopes that Christian isn't the only member of the family making an impact in the NFL during the 2017 season.

Western: Packers have just $4 million in dead money against 2017 salary cap - Acme Packing Company - Green Bay is 11th in the league in terms of having the least dead hit on the cap this year.

Wagner: Finding Brett Favre’s Heir - A Look Back in Time - Acme Packing Company - Aaron Rodgers was the final decision after three years of quarterback draft rumors in the early 2000s. Who were the other options?
