Chicago Bears Preseason 2017: Twitter reacts to Mitchell Trubisky

So last night was pretty fun for us Chicago Bears’ fans. For the first time in a while, there’s a rookie that has captured our excitement. Mitchell Trubisky came into the game to run the two-minute drill at the end of the first half, and Soldier Field immediately started to buzz. Then he threw his first pass — a short out to tight end Adam Shaheen — and the electricity intensified. Sure, technically, it was an incomplete pass, but the record books will indicate that there was a Denver penalty that negated the play.

We were just happy to see the rookie throw it.

Next was a little one yard completion to Ka’Deem Carey and the crowd simmered a bit more. (1-1)

His next pass was an 18 yard completion to Josh Bellamy, a pass that was right on the money, that got the Bears to the Denver eight yard line, and the crowd was ready to explode. (2-2)

Next was a three yard completion (3-3), then another incomplete pass (again negated by a Broncos’ penalty), AND then the big one.

(4-4) A two yard strike to Victor Cruz for the touchdown!

On the night, Trubisky went 18 of 25 for 166 yards, with 1 TD and a 103.1 passer rating. He also showed some quickness in evading the rush, while adding 38 yards on three runs.

Let’s see what Twitter had to say about Trubisky’s debut.

Trubisky was the star of the night.

Respect.

Nice indeed!

A Bears’ legend weighs in.

So now the scouts like him?

I’m still waiting on the full parade route information.

Oh, I see Brian Urlacher is the Grand Marshall of the parade!

There better be M-V-P chants at the preseason finale.

That number 4 though...

There was no official plan, but just in case.

Let’s temper our excitement...

The new G.O.A.T.?

Keep hope alive
