Last Thursday night, Chicago Bears’ rookie quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky, surprised a lot of NFL fans with his debut. There were certainly some that weren’t as surprised as others, but there’s no way anyone expected him to look as good as he did.
When the Bears traded up to draft Trubisky, they guy they felt was the unequivocal top QB prospect on the board, the national media had a field day with the move. Despite the fact that there were a number of stories that came out after the draft, that helped make sense of the decision by general manager Ryan Pace, the narrative was still set.
Flash forward to the evening oif August 10th and the tone from the national pundits started to change. It was only one night, but it was a heck of a one night.
Lost in Trubisky’s debut is the stellar job of the Bears coaching staff, in particular offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, in putting him in a position to have success. I discuss some specifics of what Loggains did in my latest episode of T Formation Conversation.
