Last night, Chicago Bears undrafted free agent kicker, Andy Phillips, tweeted out his gratitude to the Bears organization for having him in camp. Connecting the dots, it seemed pretty obvious that the Bears’ informed him that his time in Chicago was over.

This morning, the Bears issued a press release confirming that Phillips was waived, and taking his place on the 90 man off-season roster is wide receiver Alton Howard, who played his college ball at Tennessee from 2012-2015.

Alton “Pig” Howard, was dismissed from Tennessee for a violation of team rules, but before that he amassed 99 receptions, for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns in his time with the Volunteers. He also had 35 rushes for 202 yards, and two TDs on the ground. He also took a leave of absence from the team in 2014 to deal with some personal issues.

At Tennessee’s 2017 pro day, Howard checked in at 5’7”, 184 pounds, and he ran a 4.6 forty.
