Bears Camp 2017: Jonathan Bullard pushing for a starting role

NFL: Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Jonathan Bullard, who changed his number from 74 to 90 this off season, has been having a very good camp for the Chicago Bears according to Robert Zeglinski who has attended every second of camp thus far. I caught up with Robert to pick his brain about his thoughts on what has transpired down in Bourbonnais.

You can hear our discussion on my latest episode of T Formation Conversation right here. If you haven't already, you can subscribe to the Podcast on iTunes right here. (Do it.)

Robert and I not only discuss Bullard, we hit on Jaye Howard, Leonard Floyd, Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller from the defensive side of the ball. And on the offense, we talk the quarterbacks including Mitchell Trubisky’s deep ball, Jordan Howard, Benny Cunningham, Markus Wheaton, and Tanner Gentry.

I also asked Robert how his experience as a credentialed member of the media has been, and we talked about the Bears’ strict media reporting policy.

But back to Bullard, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who is usually very tight lipped when talking about his guys, opened up some on the second year pro.

“He’s doing better,” Fangio said via chicagobears.com. “He’s much more mature physically. He weighs, if you can believe it, almost a little bit too much, so his weight’s not an issue. I think he’s more mentally and emotionally ready for the rigors of playing in the NFL trenches against grown men. We’re hopeful. I like where he’s at now. I think his arrow’s pointing up; we’ll see how far it goes up.”
